Intro to Hand and Power Tools

This month I started taking a 2 credit class by the name of this post. I've always been a crafter but never done more I guess, manly stuff, like power tools. But this class has been extremely fun and interesting so far! Even though my teacher is a mono-toned too-quiet-for-a-room-full-of-power-tools older lady and I'm kind of scared of getting a limb chopped off I'm glad to be learning a cool new skill. We've been working with table saws, jointers, scroll saws, band saws, Sanders, and routers. My favorite is probably the scroll saw or router. In the class we have one big project a "bench" basically something with a top, 2 legs and a stretcher. I've decided to make a night stand!
We started with a practice board before we begin the bench. The practice board was cut to about 11" x 11" and the bench starts at 1"x12" x 8'.
On the practice board we used all the tools I mentioned before here are some pictures:
Also some pictures of the night stands beginning stages!
Can't wait to show you more as it comes along!

Until Next Time,
